American Council on Exercise (ACE) offers four different fitness certifications to suit the needs of different types of health & fitness professionals.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is the largest nonprofit organization for fitness certification, education, and training in the world. Founded in 1985, ACE has become an established resource for fitness trainers and clients, holding claim to some of the most comprehensive, unbiased scientific research in the fitness industry. This dedication as a leader among fitness organizations is evident as ACE provides a vast array of certifications designed to complement any fitness minded career path. Furthermore, ACE offers arguably the most accessible continuing education opportunities and professional resources to its certification holders.

The following four NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited certifications are currently offered by ACE: Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Health Coach, and Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist.

ACE Personal Trainer Certification

Since ACE is highly recognized in the fitness industry, those focused on having a future in personal training can be confident with their choice of becoming an ACE certified personal trainer. This certification includes learning the ACE Integrated Fitness Training model (ACE IFT), which is a newly developed personal training system that combines cardiorespiratory training with functional movement and resistance training. It also integrates stability, mobility and movement training to improve both performance and fitness.

ACE IFT promotes trainer-client interaction, something very important for client retention. This personal trainer certification will not only give you all of the tools that you need to be an excellent trainer, but to be a successful one as well. By teaching you how to form and maintain a good working relationship with your clients, you will have the skills to establish rapport and make a strong connection. This makes you better equipped to meet all of your clients? fitness needs and keep their business as well.

Certification Prerequisites & Exam Cost

You must be 18 years old and have a current adult CPR/AED certification and present a current government-issued photo ID. The exam is taken at one of their computer-based testing centers and with 500 testing center locations, finding a location near you is easy and you get your exam score immediately ? no waiting to find out if you passed.

It costs $399 for the exam alone, or anywhere from $499 to $699 for the exam plus study materials depending on the certification package that you choose.

ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification

This certification is geared towards those who are interested in leading workouts in a group setting. You will be trained to help motivate, lead, and educate clients towards improving their health. Though having potential to be very lucrative, not all clients prefer group fitness as it takes away from the one on one attention and customization that many clients want and need. However, with only so many hours in a day, group fitness can earn you a lot of money in a short amount of time and your answer to those who enjoy that workout setting.

Holding this certification means that you are knowledgeable about injury prevention, class design, anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, instructional techniques, and cuing. Employers will know with the ACE group fitness instructor certification that you?re able to skillfully and effectively lead group exercise classes. Also, you will be more attractive to potential employers in general because ACE has a well-known standard of quality in the fitness industry.

With this certification, you will get support from ACE as long as your certification is up to date; support is also available from other ACE certified fitness professionals by email, phone, or live chat.

Certification Prerequisites & Exam Cost
